We are writing to provide you with reminders of food resources available if the government shutdown continues beyond Oct. 31, 2025. 

Background: 

If the federal government shutdown continues beyond Oct. 31, 2025, SNAP benefits for November will be delayed The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) and Oregon Home Care Commission want to make sure that the Oregonians we serve, as well as their paid care providers, are prepared.  

How to get help 

We recognize the significant impact, uncertainty, and stress this situation may cause for the people we serve. We are asking for your help to make sure people know about the resources that are available to them including:  

If an individual needs transportation or assistance to access a congregate meal site or food box pick-up location, providers may assist them in getting there.  

Additionally, Homecare Workers and Personal Support Workers may go to the food box pick-up location on behalf of the individual they serve.  

For questions about getting authorization to provide transportation for this reason: 

Individuals can request the following services through their case manager: 

Eligible adults served by the Office of Developmental Disabilities (ODDS) and the Office of Aging and People with Disabilities (APD) may receive up to two meals per day through home-delivered meal services.  

Additional resources for older adults and people with physical disabilities 

  • Adult Day Services: In areas where Adult Day Service programs are available, some individuals can attend and receive a meal at the site. 
  • Congregate Meals: Individuals aged 60 or older may be eligible for congregate meals. Local meal sites can be found at the meals programs page of Aging and Disability Resource Connection website.  
  • The Aging and Disability Resource Connection (ADRC) of Oregon can help people find government and community resources. Call 1-855-673-2372 or visit www.adrcoforegon.org.
