🌟 July IDD Connect Networking Meeting 🌟

New Community Care Housing Model Coming to Oregon

Presented by Mindee Hardin, Founder & Executive Director, Miah Families

Mindee Hardin will share why Oregon needs a stronger, more intentional approach to community care and what Miah Families has learned during its first year of bringing together older adults, adults with disabilities, children, families, caregivers, and volunteers.

She will explore why simply placing diverse groups in the same room is not enough to create a true sense of belonging, and how intentionally designed experiences can foster genuine friendships, mutual support, and lasting community. Drawing from real-life examples and lessons learned, Mindee will share practical strategies for building meaningful relationships across generations and abilities.

Attendees will also leave with simple, effective communication tips that help people confidently connect with those who may think, communicate, or experience the world differently—making it easier to create “all ages and abilities” communities where everyone has the opportunity to belong and contribute.

About the Presenter

Mindee Hardin is the Founder and Executive Director of Miah Families, a Washington County nonprofit dedicated to reducing isolation by creating meaningful relationships across all ages and abilities. After more than 25 years as an entrepreneur, educator, author, speaker, and community leader, Mindee has focused her work on one of today’s greatest challenges: helping people move from simply living near one another to truly knowing, supporting, and belonging with one another.

We hope to see you there! 💙

Join us for an informative and inspiring meeting focused on learning, connection, and collaboration within our IDD community.

We look forward to continuing the year together with collaboration and purpose.
