Staying Safe Online: Reducing Digital Risk in the IDD Community

As technology becomes an increasingly important part of everyday life, understanding how to stay safe online is more important than ever. Join us for an informative presentation focused on digital safety, online independence, and practical strategies to help protect members of the IDD community.

Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities are online more than ever, and with that independence comes rising exposure to scams, financial exploitation, and unsafe contact. In this session, SafeDigital IDD Solutions founder Addisu Mulugeta, a CISSP, Security Engineer, and former direct support professional, along with his partner Abdu, will share what the data shows, why this community is targeted, and a practical, accessibility-first program built to help members of the IDD community stay safe, confident, and independent online.

Whether you’re a provider, family member, educator, advocate, self-advocate, or support professional, this presentation will provide valuable information and practical tools to help create a safer online experience for those you support.

About the Presenters

Addisu Mulugeta is the Founder of SafeDigital IDD Solutions, a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Security Engineer, and former Direct Support Professional. His unique background in both cybersecurity and direct support has inspired him to develop practical, accessible solutions that help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities safely navigate today’s digital world.

Abdu H. serves as the Chief Operations Officer for SafeDigital IDD Solutions and works alongside Addisu to advance the organization’s mission of providing accessible digital safety education and resources for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, their families, and the professionals who support them.
